Active ageing
To most people Neighbourhood Renewal is all about the regeneration of buildings, but did you know there is an
active ageing element which is about renewing people?
Currently in three areas - Speke/Garston, Anfield/Breckfield and Tuebrook/Clubmoor - and with a handyperson scheme in Alt Valley, a number of the city's most successful agencies have joined forces to kick start active ageing for people over 50.
The sorts of activities arranged by the partnership are:
- Physical, social, intergenerational and educational activities
- Emotional support services
- Practical support - handyperson, decorating, gardening and a white goods repair service
- Raising awareness of health issues and initiatives
- Helping people to maximise their income
- Housing and property support to assist with adaptations, repairs, etc. to maintain independent living.
This project received funds from Liverpool's Neighbourhood Renewal Fund
