Liverpool City Council Supported Living

Liverpool City Council provides a range of social services under the title of 'Supported Living'.

These services are set up to support you in living  in your community and in a way you wish to.

What we do.
In partnership with Health we are funding a whole set of services which are about making sure people avoid ill health and continue to be independent. The support which can be provided includes going to lunch clubs and social clubs, going to an Active Age centre, getting someone who can come and do small jobs around your house through local handyperson services.

If you do have to use Supported Living services and Health services you may be offered home care, a day centre, respite breaks for your family so that they can look after you at home without too much strain on their health, items of equipment, physiotherapy, and other therapies to help you regain your strength and health.

If you cannot live in your own home for any reason you could be offered sheltered housing - or now - extra care housing, your own flat in a place where there is a warden and lots of carers on site and activities being organised to help you keep well.

Going into a care home is the end of a very long line of assistance we will try before that happens. In Liverpool we are choosing Care Home providers who will work with us to provide homes which still work towards improving people's health and independence. A care home is not always the last stage for people. A care home can also be a place where you go for a short time to recuperate and regain your strength.  In situations like this you will be seen or 'reviewed' regularly to see when we can help you to live at home again.
